Baby Legs Deodorizers Detergents Giveaway Made in the USA Review WAHM made

Kickin’ Creations Review & Giveaway (CLOSED 9/21)

>

kickin creations
I originally contacted Mandy of Kickin’ Creations to buy some wool dryer balls.  As it turned out, she was not happy with the new method she was trying (at the time) for making them, and didn’t want to sell any to me until she was pleased with how they ended up.
We got to chatting and I agreed to review her cloth diaper safe laundry detergent, deodorizer powder (pail powder) and baby legs.  (She also sells sugar scrubs, burp cloths and more!)

Kickin’ Creations items are normally shipped in nice, heat-sealed bags.  Since mine were samples, they were shipped in regular baggies.

I received the detergent and pail powder, both in Wild Cherry Blossom scent.  Other scent options include: Sweet Pea & Jasmine, Lavender Essential Oil, Apple Cinnamon, Fresh Linen and Unscented.
cloth diapers
I’ve had such a hard time with detergent, that I was really surprised and impressed by Kickin’ Creations.  Like the other scented detergents I’ve used, the scent was very strong.  I could smell it as soon as I opened my mailbox!  I’m a little more sensitive to smells than others, so I put the detergent and pail powder in an OXO container for storage.  Like that, it made my laundry room smell great!
cloth diaper safe products
Each bag of detergent contains up to 70 wash loads, and sells for $15.00 plus $4.95 shipping.  A half-batch sample pack sells for $8.00 plus shipping.  The instructions are to use 1-2 tablespoons (3 to soak, less per load for an HE machine.)
kickin creations
The first time I used it, I used a little more than I needed to.  After that, I used a little bit less, and while the laundry room smelled great while washing, the diapers rinsed clean.  When they were finished, they had a faint scent, but just smelled clean.  I used the whole bag (it lasted at least a week, I should have kept track!) and it worked wonderfully.
I use a Planet Wise large hanging wet bag as a pail, and don’t have a lot of stink issues.  However, since I’ve started washing every other day, things get a little…eh…”gamey” by wash day.  The Stink Be Gone All Purpose Deodorizer Powder is available in the same scents as the detergent, and a 10 ounce package sells for $5.00 plus shipping.
If you used it in a shaker bottle (relabeled for safety!) like an empty baby powder or spice container, it would be very easy to sprinkle a bit in your diaper pail or trash can. I just shook a little bit out of the bag onto the diapers as I added them to the pail & noticed some stink.  It really did a good job of neutralizing the odor.  My laundry room (where I keep my pail!) smelled fresh, not like flowery dirty diapers, hee hee.
baby legs
Last up are the baby legs.  You really have to cut me some slack on my pictures.  Lately, trying to photograph my son feels like trying to photograph a squirrel on redbull.

baby legs

The pair I received are navy blue, and like other WAHM baby legs, they are made from knee socks.

Mandy also makes a “Tiny Legs” version of baby legs for 0-3 month olds.  They sell for about $5.00 plus shipping.

I am looking forward to using these when the weather gets cooler and he gets that chilly gap between socks and pants!

Cloth Wipes Diaper Accessories Giveaway Made in the USA Review WAHM made Wipes Solution

Ruby Moon Cloth Wipes & Wipe Solution Bits Review & Giveaway (CLOSED 9/13)

>

ruby moon cloth wipes

Ruby Moon is a Mom owned company that makes all natural cloth diaper detergent, laundry detergent, pail powder, cloth wipes, wipe bits and wool wash bars.  I received wipes and wipes bits to review.

cloth wipes
The wipes are flannel and terry cloth, and have color coordinated stitching.
cloth wipes
They measure approximately 6″ x 6″.
cloth wipes
They are a little smaller than other wipes that I have, and also a bit thicker.
cloth wipescloth wipes

While I do prefer my diaper wipes slightly larger and thinner, the Ruby Moon wipes have been serving as excellent hand and face wipers for my son!  Wipes are available in feminine, masculine or gender neutral prints.  6 wipes are $11.95, 12 are $21.50 and 24 are $35.95.  Ruby Moon can also make custom wipes to match your nursery, theme or even use fabric you already have.

ruby moon wipes bits
I also received a sample package of Ruby Moon Natural Wipe Bits.  They are made with Shea butter soap, oatmeal and lavender.  2 oz. of wipe bits (and a wipe) sell for $4.50.
ruby moon
I think wipe solution bits are a great deal.  I use my solution in a spray bottle, and in about 10 or 11 months, I’ve used a sample pack of one brand, and barely made a dent in a pack of another.  Depending on how you use your solution, and how much you use, one pack could last months!

Allow solution to cool, then pour into your spray bottle, Peri bottle, or however you choose to use it.

I found the scent to be very light, like a mild soap.  It did the job of getting my son’s tush clean with minimal wiping, and did not irritate his skin!

While supplies last: Mention me when you order, and get a free wipe!

Want to read more about cloth wipes and solutions, including how to fold wipes to pop up in a wipes container?  Check out my Cloth Wipes Post on The Village of Moms!

Giveaway time!  Ruby Moon is offering a 6-pack of wipes in the winner’s choice of girl, boy or gender neutral, along with a package of wipes bits; a combined retail value of $16.45.

How to enter: All entries go in the form.  Entries left in the comments will not be counted.  Feel free to leave a comment to remind yourself you entered.  I will also be updating the post daily(ish) with the # of entries received, for those of you who like to know their odds!

Mandatory entries include name, email address and your favorite product from The Ruby Moon Online Store.  Bonus Entry: “Like” Ruby Moon Laundry Wash on Facebook.

Doodle Dypes AI2 Review

>

doodle
I received my Doodle Dypes all-in-two diaper a few weeks ago, and it earned it’s spot in my pile of favorites right away!
doodle dypes
Sandy of Doodle Dypes makes many of her diapers custom to order.  Mine has a cotton knit outer, hidden procare waterproof barrier and an organic bamboo fleece inner.
doodle dypes
I love this print!  I think the blue makes it suit my son, but the purple hearts would work for a girl too.
snaps
This is an AI2 with a snap-in soaker.
snap overlap
You can overlap the wings to fit a slimmer baby.
diaper
This definitely looks like a professionally sewn diaper, with even stitching and evenly applied snaps.
fold down rise
It is a “one size” by way of a fold down rise.  One thing that’s unique is that the second row of snaps are hidden (applied under the inner layer) so when you’re using this on a smaller baby, no snaps will touch his/her tummy.
organic bamboo fleece
The all-in-two’s snap in soaker can give you 5-15 layers of organic bamboo fleece absorbency, depending on how you fold it.
soaker
Organic Bamboo Fleece needs to be prepped (washed on hot & dried on medium heat 3-4 times) and will gain maximum absorbency after about 10 washes.  Sandy pre-washes all of her fabrics before sewing, so you don’t have to worry about any uneven shrinking.
diaper

Above is how you use the fold-down rise.

diaper
I’m able to get a good fit with or without folding down the rise.  The fit looks a little strange in that picture for some reason, but it’s not!
diaper
It fits wonderfully around the legs too.
diaper
I was anxious to get the diaper on him, so I only washed it once.
reusable diaper
The absorbency is fantastic.
cloth diaper
Our Doodle Dype is in our regular rotation.  In fact, my son is wearing it and sitting on my lap right now!
diaper
We have even used it on car rides with no leaking, and it doesn’t have the wicking (at the legs) issues that some diapers with a cotton outer & hidden PUL have!  I do know that the cotton outer will fade and wear over time.  That’s just the nature of a cotton knit fabric.
A Doodle Dypes all-in-two will need to be changed at each diaper change, it isn’t the hybrid type where you can just change out a soaker.  Each one retails for $20 and you can shop Doodle Dypes on HyenaCart and visit Doodle Dypes on Facebook!
The diaper was provided to me free of charge for the purpose of this review.  I was not requested or required to write a positive review, and all opinions are my own.  I was not otherwise compensated for my review.

Kim’s Kloth Pocket Diaper Tester Review

>

When Kim of Kim’s Crafts decided to start selling Kim’s Kloth Diapers, she needed testers.  Usually a WAHM will want the feedback of moms with different age and size babies before selling outside of her circle of friends.
I like to think I’m a good tester because I’m pretty good at evaluating products in a detailed fashion, and heaven knows I don’t hold back, hee hee.
I tested a one size pocket diaper, which is right up my alley.  I really enjoyed testing for Kim because she seemed to really listen to my feedback, and I didn’t have to worry about her taking my comments about the diaper as personal criticism!  As you read my review, please keep in mind that I tested a prototype, and Kim took all of her tester’s feedback into account while tweaking her final product.
Kim is having the Kim’s Kloth Store grand opening on Thursday, August 5th at noon, and you can get 10% off everything all week!
The diaper has a nice pocket opening, though it wasn’t quite as big as a Bumgenius.
The snaps include the ability to overlap for small babies.
I thought the stitching was very even, I had to scrutinize to find an area that was a tiny bit off, and looking at this picture, even up close, it’s hardly noticeable.

Initially, I misunderstood and thought this was a sized diaper, and put it on my son as shipped (large setting.)

The package included clear instructions on how to adjust the leg elastic, so I think I was just having a major brain lapse that day.

It was a little loose on the large setting of course, since my son normally wears mediums.

Stuffed with the included microfiber towel, it was very trim.  I’m not a huge fan of the microfiber towel for various reasons!

The next time I used the diaper, I adjusted the leg elastic.  It’s easily accessible through the pocket.

The snaps are pretty “sticky” so you don’t have to worry about them coming loose during use.

It took a firm tug to get each snap out of the opening, but it wasn’t difficult at all.  There are a total of four settings.

I had an extra BumGenius microfiber insert, so I decided to try it in the Kim’s Kloth.

The insert is a little wider than the diaper.

So I wasn’t able to get it to lay quite flat.  I think a narrower insert would work well.  If I remember correctly, the Fuzzibunz insert would probably be a great fit!

Above is the small setting, folded.

There’s the small setting, stretched.
Above, the large setting folded.  I think, I think!  It’s been a while since I took these photos!
Stretched
In the end, I settled on the next-to-smallest size.
Kim estimates the weight range to be 15-40 pounds.  My son was around 17.5 lbs and had plenty of room to grow in them.  I’d love to see this in a slightly smaller pattern as well, for newborn-15 pounds, like the stages/duo diapers that other brands have.

I noticed that the inner of the diaper got a bit pilly after several washings, and we did have a bit of wicking at the legs.  However, I think that was probably due to my lack of microfiber folding skills!  I’d love to try it with an insert sewn specifically to fit it.

The diapers will sell for $13 (bargain!) with a microfiber towel inluded for stuffing.  You can elect to purchase a sewn insert for $1 extra.  Kim also made some tweaks to the snap arrangement on the final product!

“Like” the Kim’s Crafts Facebook page to see fan submitted photos of the diaper on other babies, and keep tabs on the grand opening!
I received a diaper for the purposes of testing, opinions are mine and I wasn’t required to write a review at all, let alone a positive one.  🙂

Bagshot Row Bamboo Hybrid AIO Review & Giveaway! CLOSED

>

Bagshot Row Bamboo were the first bamboo snappiable/pinnable fitted diapers on the market.  They’re very popular, quickly selling out after each store stocking.

Like most other cloth diapers, Bagshot Row Bamboo (BSRB) diapers were created when Joyce wasn’t able to get quite the right fit with the snapping bamboo diapers she was using.  Her two-part soaker was also unique at the time, though many imitations have followed.  She made them extra long to allow for folding to gain more absorbency, and they were sewn in two parts for faster drying.

For those of us that prefer a waterproof diaper, Joyce created the Bagshot Row Bamboo Hybrid All In One.
This is a great example of why I think diaper names are confusing
.
The BSRB Hybrid AIO has two full layers of non-pill fleece, and a decorative layer of cotton knit in the outer shell of the diaper.  Note that there is no PUL, so it’s a great alternative for Mamas who want a waterproof diaper, but have babies with PUL sensitivities.

There is no absorbent material sewn into the shell.  The diaper comes with a two part soaker made with bamboo/organic cotton fleece which snaps into the shell.  This is what I would call an all in two.  However, as I’ve discussed before, some people feel that only hybrid systems like the flip, where the shell can be wiped and reused for multiple changes, are all in twos.  Anything that can only be used once before laundering (in the opinion of some) is an all in one, despite being made up of two pieces.
I had no issues with wicking on this diaper, and I think that’s because the decorative cotton outer is sewn toward the back of the diaper, and not in the wet zone, where the legs would be prone to wicking.
The soaker is purposely made extra-long, to allow for double, or even triple folding.  If you double both soakers over, you will have 12 layers of absorbency.
This diaper is closure-less, meaning it does not have snaps, Velcro or another closure method built in.  You have to use pins or a snappi to secure it.  The benefit is that you’re not constrained by rise or snap settings; the fit is infinitely adjustable.  I only have one other closure-less diaper, so I’m really not the best at using snappis.  I am sure if you use them more regularly, they will be easier to use.  I’m getting better at it already.
Even so, I still prefer snaps, and Joyce offers snaps as an option.  However, they are done by another WAHM, so you would need to contact her for a quote, pay, and wait for Joyce to send your diapers to her for the addition of snaps.
Not too bad for my first attempt!  My subsequent attempts were better, I swear!
Even though these diapers are waterproof, you should not let your baby wear them alone (no clothes) and also follow Snappi Baby’s safety instructions to NOT use a Snappi fastener on toddlers who have the ability to undo their cover and take off their diaper and/or clothes.  Snappi fasteners do have somewhat sharp grippers, and the plastic tabs could potentially be chewed/choked on.
The first time I used my BSRB AIO, the soakers were hardly wet when I changed it.  The second time, he pooped in it immediately (soakers didn’t stain at all by the way.)  So, the third time, I purposely left it on him longer than usual, so I could really test the absorbency.  I was quite surprised when I realized I could have left it on him even longer still!  There was no leaking, no wicking, and the soakers had tons of absorbency left.  They weren’t even fully saturated.
If you want your own Bagshot Row Bamboo Hybrid AIO, you’ll have to stalk her Hyenacart store.  She stocks each Friday at 4 and 6 P.M. central time.  Her diapers sell for $20-$25 depending on style.
Or, you can win one!  Joyce will make one lucky blog reader a BSRB diaper in their choice of style and print!
