Cloth Diapers Giveaway One Size Diapers Pocket Diapers Review Snap Closure

Oh Katy Cloth Diaper Giveaway U.S./Canada (CLOSED 5/19) Plus Quick Comparison to Katydid Cloth

Oh Katy Cloth Diaper

Last year, I posted my Katydid Cloth diaper review. Since then, Katydid Cloth has become Oh Katy, but I haven’t done an Oh Katy cloth diaper review! I just ordered some more Loopydo Inserts and Bumgenius 4.0 diapers for night time, so I could stretch my washing to every 3 or so days. I ordered from Kelly’s Closet (why yes, that is an affiliate link, tee-hee) and I used the coupon MAYFLOWERS to get a free one-size diaper valued at $17 or higher. I had my fingers crossed that I’d get something I hadn’t tried yet, or maybe a Bumgenius 4.0, but these things never work out that way for me! What I got was the Oh Katy diaper you see above, same color as my Katydid Cloth diaper and everything!!

Oh Katy Cloth Diaper vs katydid cloth

So, I figured I’d pass it along to one of my loverly readers instead.

Oh Katy Cloth Diaper vs katydid cloth tags

The big change of course, is the name. The also added a few new colors, reduced the amount of packaging and switched to more gentle elastic. The sage color looks slightly different, and the packaging says the outer is TPU. I checked the inner tag of the Katydid (don’t have the original packaging obviously) and it just says 100% polyester. So, I’m not sure if they have always been TPU (didn’t think so) or if they used to be PUL.

I obviously didn’t want to open the package for photos, you can view measurements etc. in the Katydid review from last year. That was one of the posts where my spacing ended up funky after my hosting switch (I am sure there are still more out there too!) and when I added single line breaks, it added gaping chasms of white space. I figure it’s better than being all squished up though, so oh well!

I did take two photos so you can see that the leg and rear elastic definitely do look looser, so they shouldn’t leave red marks on your baby!

Cloth Diapers Giveaway Made in the USA Pocket Diapers Review Snap Closure WAHM made

Kim’s Cloth Embroidered Diaper Review & Giveaway (CLOSED 5/11)

Kim's Cloth Diaper 1 back

I was a tester last year when Kim of Kim’s Crafts was perfecting her Kim’s Cloth diapers. They start at just $13.00, and go up to $19 for specialty ruffle butt or Kimbroidery (embroidered) diapers. Mine was $21.00 shipped!

Kim's Cloth Diaper 2 frontKim's Cloth Diaper 3 front

I have zero photography talent (less than zero if that’s possible) and black minky is especially hard to photograph! The photos I’ve taken don’t do this diaper justice at all. I’m really impressed with the attention to detail, including neat, even stitching!

Kim's Cloth Diaper 4 detail

The diaper has snap closures.

Kim's Cloth Diaper 5 snap closures

You can buy Kim’s Cloth Diapers with fleece or minky inners. Mine is minky!

Kim's Cloth Diaper 6 inner

It’s a pocket diaper with a rear opening. The pocket isn’t enormous, but I didn’t have any trouble stuffing it!

Kim's Cloth Diaper 7 pocket

My tester diaper had a microfiber towel for stuffing. I’m not crazy about them, largely because the feeling of microfiber on my hands creeps me out (microfiber inserts don’t do this to me, I don’t know why.) I’m also not great at folding them so they fit in the pocket just right.

Kim's Cloth Diaper 9 measured insertKim's Cloth Diaper 10 insert sitting on pocket

This time I received a sewn insert, which is 2 layers of microfiber sandwiched between flannel. It is small enough to fit nicely in the smallest setting.

Kim’s Cloth Diapers are “one size fits most” and are estimated to fit 15-45 pounds (based on Kim’s experience, tester and customer feedback.) They are a bit larger than some other “one-size” diapers, and I think the sizes are probably medium, medium/long, large and extra-large, but to keep things simple, I’m going to refer to them as small, medium, large and extra-large!

Kim's Cloth Diaper 11 size adjustment

The size adjustment is through 4 snap settings on the leg elastic. It’s easy to find the snaps inside the pocket, and they are sticky enough to not come undone accidentally, but not sticky enough to make it difficult to adjust!

Here are the 4 sizes measured folded and stretched. As always, this isn’t an exact science, since measurements can really vary depending on exactly how I pull the fabric, but it should give you an idea! (P.S. I know I should have lint rolled this between washing & photographing it. Sorry!)

Small (4th snap setting):

Kim's Cloth Diaper 12 small foldedKim's Cloth Diaper 13 small stretched
Kim's Cloth Diaper 14 small

Medium (3rd snap setting):

Large (2nd snap setting):

Kim's Cloth Diaper 20 large

Extra-large (1st snap setting):

Kim's Cloth Diaper 21 xl foldedKim's Cloth Diaper 22 xl stretched
Kim's Cloth Diaper 23 xl

My son is 23 months old and about 22 pounds. Initially, I tried him in the large (2nd snap) setting, but it was a bit big.

So then I tried him in the medium (3rd snap, second to smallest) setting. It looks a little funny because I literally adjusted and re-fastened the diaper while he was on the run, LOL.

Giveaway Natural Personal Care Products Review

ReNew Life Probiotics Review & $50 Gift Certificate/Code Giveaway (CLOSED 5/5)

renew life flora bear and ultimate flora

Brenda Watson founded ReNew Life in 1997, and now ReNew Life is the leading digestive care company found in health stores in the U.S. and Canada. Brenda is a Certified Nutritional Consultant and has a special on PBS: The Road to Perfect Health – Balance Your Gut, Heal Your Body, an in-depth look at how chronic diseases start with an unhealthy digestive system. You can check the PBS schedule to see when it will be on, and also view clips on Brenda’s YouTube page.

ReNew life has all kinds of probiotics, and they even have a tool to help decide which probiotic is right for you. They also have Digestive Enzymes (which I am definitely going to look for!), Omega Supplements, Fiber Supplements and many more products for your digestive and overall health.

renew life 2

I’ve heard lots of talk about probiotics over the years, but I had never tried them until a few months ago. In February, my husband and daughter both were on antibiotics, so I sent my husband to our local organic market to look for probiotics. I had read that probiotics would help keep their bodies’ natural balance and avoid nasty side effects from the antibiotics.

renew life

He didn’t really know what he was looking for (and I didn’t really know what to tell him to look for) so he asked an employee. He was told that ReNew Life was “the best,” and he bought the Ultimate Flora Critical Care 50 Billion (MSRP $37.99/30) for himself, and the Flora Bear for Kids (MSRP $14.99) for our daughter.

renew life flora bear and ultimate flora (2)

The adult probotics are easy to swallow, and are enteric-coated, delayed release capsules, so they dissolve in your intestines (instead of your stomach) so they can do their work.

renew life flora bear

The Flora Bear probiotics have a cute bear design, are easy to chew (not too chalky) and taste good. They are mildly sweet and have an orange flavor.

After our first experience with probiotics, I wasn’t thinking they were some sort of miracle, but no one suffered any ill effects from the antibiotics! When we all got the stomach bug a few weeks later, my husband and I were both frantically digging in the fridge for leftover probotics!

Without making this post “TMI,” I have always had “issues” with my digestive system, and they have been pretty unbearable over the past few weeks (anyone with IBS can sympathize!) I picked up a bottle of the Ultimate Flora Critical Colon 80 Billion (first picture in the post) to try. The MSRP is $49.99, but they were $42.99 at my store. It seems awfully expensive for 30 pills but first of all, you only have to take one per day. Plus, really? I have told my DH that I would gladly pay more than that in exchange for living my life without always having my digestive system on my mind and suffering daily.

After taking these once daily for a little over a week, I actually felt “normal.” It was pretty darn amazing.

renew life buddy bearrenew life buddy bear 2

I received a bottle of the Buddy Bear (MSRP $13.99) probiotics to review. Like the Flora Bear, they have a nice, easily chewable texture and a mildly sweet orange flavor.

renew life buddy bear 3renew life buddy bear 4

They are recommended for children 2 and up, but my 23-month old son has been taking them too. Both of my kids love them and ask for them every day!

I really feel like Brenda Watson and ReNew Life know digestive health, and their products work. I’ll continue to buy them, since they are working so well for us.

Please note that I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on the internet. Do not confuse my opinions for medical advice. Digestive issues can be signs of serious illness. IBS symptoms can be similar to far more serious problems such as: Colon Cancer, Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis, Celiac, Bowel Obstructions, Diverticulosis/Diverticulitis, Gallstones, Food Allergies/Intolerances, Bacterial Infections, Intestinal Parasites, Ovarian Cancer and even Endometriosis. If you are experiencing digestive distress more than occasionally, it’s very important that you see your doctor to rule out other diseases.

Giveaway: ReNew Life is offering one reader a $50 Gift Certificate to spend on anything they like at ReNewLife.com!

Cloth Diapers Giveaway Made in the USA One Size Diapers Pocket Diapers Review Side Snapping Snap Closure

Knickernappies One Size Pocket Diaper Review & Giveaway (CLOSED 5/3)

knickernappies cloth diaper

Last year, I won not one, but two Knickernappies 2G (sized) pocket diapers (now called Knickernappies Custom Fit Pocket Diapers,) but I’ve never tried a Knickernappies One-Size.

I tend to gravitate towards one-size diapers, even though my son has been in mediums since 4 months/14 lbs and is still in mediums at 23 months/22 lbs! My daughter was an itty bitty peanut, but my son started out so much bigger, I thought he’d be my hefty kid. His growth slowed and he’s been at the bottom of the charts, just like his sister. I kicked myself for not cloth diapering her, since she wouldn’t have needed anything bigger than a medium. (This was almost 7 years ago, when the only modern cloth I could find was one brand of sized diapers; I thought I’d need 25 each XS-XL and balked at the $2k+ price tag. Dumb me.)

knickernappies cloth diaper 00 back

I was so fortunate to receive a Knickernappies One-Size Diaper courtesy of Knickernappies. The diapers and the inserts are made in the USA. Knickernappies provides a two-year warranty on elastic and a lifetime warranty on snaps!

knickernappies cloth diaper 1 inserts

I received the turquoise, which is a gorgeous, gender neutral blue. The one-size diapers include two microfiber inserts (small and large) for $19.95. They are also available with the Loopydo inserts (my absolute favorite inserts) for $24.95. Definitely worth the $5 upgrade, though the included microfiber inserts are incredibly absorbent too!

knickernappies cloth diaper 2 snaps

Like the sized diapers, the one-size is a side snapping diaper, with 5 snap settings for a great fit on any size baby.

knickernappies cloth diaper 3 rise snaps

The one-size diaper adjusts to 4 sizes by way of rise snaps; Knickernappies refers to the sizes as small, medium-short, medium and large. Knickernappies has tested the diaper to fit babies from 8-40 pounds.

knickernappies cloth diaper 4 innerknickernappies cloth diaper 5 pocket

The diaper has a super soft, pill resistant microfleece (stay dry) inner and a rear pocket opening.  The elastic is lastin elastic, which won’t “go out” like the usual stuff.

Here is the small setting measured folded and stretched:

Medium-Short:

Medium (the size my son is wearing):

Large:

You can view my Knickernappies Custom Fit Diaper Review for measurements of the medium, but here are a few photos to show how the two compare:

knickernappies cloth diaper 20 one size vs medium wingsknickernappies cloth diaper 21 fronts

Obviously one is sized and one is one-size, but they are otherwise very similar. My one-size doesn’t have the front elastic that my sized diaper has though.

and the medium compared to the one-size on large and small:

knickernappies cloth diaper 25 med vs largeknickernappies cloth diaper 26 med vs snall

I put my son in the medium setting. He is on the next-to-tightest snaps, so he has one more rise setting and three snap settings to grow into! Again, he is 23 months old and about 22 pounds (estimated, not totally sure!)

knickernappies cloth diaper 27 med os on 22 lb babyknickernappies cloth diaper 28 front

For some reason, he looks like he has a wedgie in these pictures, but he didn’t! It was just the way the PUL creased. The insert and inners weren’t giving him an atomic wedgie as it appears!

knickernappies cloth diaper 29 sideknickernappies cloth diaper 30 back

I can also assure you that the inserts are extremely absorbent. At the risk of making myself sound like a terrible mother, he had this diaper on (with the large insert only) for nearly twice the time I’d usually leave a diaper on him. We went to visit my Grandmother at the nursing home and when we came home, my husband was outside. The kids wanted to play outside, so I seized the opportunity to cook dinner uninterrupted. When it was ready, we got cleaned up, ate dinner, cleaned up again and…oh no! it had been almost 4 hours since I changed him. 🙁 The insert was pretty darn wet, but not a single leak!

Bumgenius 4.0 Cloth Diaper Giveaway U.S./Canada (CLOSED 4/26)

Bumgenius 4.0 Cloth Diapers

I promised you a giveaway to thank you for sticking with me through my hosting switch (and e-mail downtime!) so here it is.

Most of you know that Bumgenius pocket diapers were my first-ever cloth diapers. In fact, they were the first cloth diapers I’d ever seen in person, unless you count the Gerber burp cloths prefolds many people use as burp cloths!

bumgenius cloth diapers

The new Bumgenius 4.0 pocket diapers have a slightly larger design than the 3.0, improved velcro closures, new pastel color options (the brights are back now too!) and they are now available with snap closures as well. I did a Bumgenius 3.0 vs 4.0 comparison last year if you haven’t seen it.

So here’s the giveaway: One reader will receive one Bumgenius 4.0 diaper in his/her choice of color and closure (ARV $17.95.) I will purchase the diaper from the reputable cloth diaper retailer of my choice, and ship it to the winner (therefore your shipping address will be shared for the purposes of prize fulfillment.) The purchase may be made at one of my affiliates including, but not limited to: Kelly’s Closet or Diaper Junction.

Here’s how to enter: All entries go in the form below. I love comments (great way to remind yourself you entered) but comments do not count as entries.

Mandatory entries include your name, and email address.

I will accept entries until Tuesday, April 26th, 2011 at 9:00 P.M. Eastern. I will select a winner using random.org’s true random number generator and notify him/her by email.
