After trying out the original Smart Bottoms Dream Diaper, I was thrilled to see the changes that Smart Bottoms made when they released the 2.0 version. Smart Bottoms sent me a Dream Diaper 2.0 in the color Dapper. It is a beautiful, true royal blue color.
The Dream Diaper 2.0 is a “less prep” all in one diaper. It features organic cotton and hemp on the inside and PUL on the outside. The diaper comes with one snap in insert that can be folded in different ways to customize absorbency. To further customize absorbency, the diaper also has a nice wide pocket the can be stuffed. Additional nighttime inserts can also be purchased separately.
Before even putting the diaper on my toddler there were features that I fell in love with. Unlike the 8-10 washes it takes to prep a Smart Bottoms 3.1, a Dream Diaper can nearly be put right on your baby. It will take a couple of washes to reach maximum absorbency. For me, this feature alone is a huge plus. We love the 3.1 diaper, but I am a very slow diaper prepper. I was also immediately impressed with the quality of the materials and the construction of the diaper.
When Smart Bottoms released the first version of the Dream Diaper there were a couple of things that made me dislike the style. First, the pocket flap was “flappy” and always seemed to be in the way of getting a good, smooth fit. The original version was also too narrow in the crotch area, which made it difficult to fit properly especially if needing additional absorbency. The good news is both of these issues are completely fixed with the 2.0. Kudos to Smart Bottoms for listening to their customers’ feedback.
Looking at the picture, you can see the older style Dream Diaper compared to the new 2.0 version. The 2.0 version has no more flappy flap but instead features a reinforced pocket opening. The opening is more than big enough to easily stuff for both my husband and I. The increased width of the diaper is also visible in the picture.
The diaper fits my 27-pound lean toddler like a DREAM! There is still plenty of room for a bigger baby/toddler in the waist and the rise. You can see that it is wide enough in the crotch area to be comfortable with additional inserts added. The trimness of the diaper is next to none. My toddler is able to wear regular sized skinny jeans when wearing this diaper!
I can’t help but think that Smart Bottoms named this diaper the Dream Diaper for multiple reasons. First, being that it is able to be used for nighttime with the proper inserts. Second, that it is virtually no prep. And third, that it fits like a dream!
The only drawback to the Dream Diaper 2.0 would be if your little one has a wetness sensitivity. That could be easily remedied by using a fleece liner.
To sum up, the features that I love about this diaper:
- No prepping required
- Natural Fibers
- Quality materials
- Great fit for a variety of body types
- Adorable variety of solids and prints available
- Easy to customize absorbency
- Would be easy for other care givers to use
