Cloth Diapering

Support Giving Diapers Giving Hope

giving diapers giving hope

I have been a supporter of Giving Diapers Giving Hope (GDGH) since the first time I heard of them and what they do. GDGH is a national cloth diaper lending organization that helps families get started with cloth diapers. For families struggling to afford disposable diapers, cloth is a fantastic option, but the start up cost can be daunting. Qualified families can apply for a set of 16 diapers (more if they have more than one child in diapers.) If approved, families just pay a $35 fee to cover shipping to and from GDGH (they are returned to the organization when the family no longer needs them.)

Kristen McCarthy founded Giving Diapers Giving Hope in 2010. When she lost her job due to cut backs, she was a single mom to 2 children in diapers. She was so thankful she already had a stash of cloth diapers and decided to start GDGH to help local families. Eventually, she and Emily Glover opened the organization to national applications. Today Kristen and Emily, along with the Cape Ann YMCA Leader’s Club, run the entire organization from Gloucester, MA.

To date, the organization has sent over 3,600 diapers to more than 200 families. They took a few months off during the summer to re-group as Emily welcomed a new baby in July. The organization decided that a custom website and application was a must to accommodate their growth and streamline the process from applying to shipping.

Giving Diapers, Giving Hope is looking for sponsors to help fund the new website. Sponsors will have their logo on a dedicated page and will also know that they are helping a worthy cause. Individuals are also encouraged to donate if they can, just $5.00 from you can add up quickly to help reach their goal.

To become a sponsor or make an individual donation, complete this form. Help Giving Diapers, Giving Hope get cloth on more deserving bottoms!

GroVia Perfect Pail Review

@GroViaDiaper perfect #clothdiapers pail via @chgdiapers 1

I purchased this item myself. I was not asked to write, nor was I compensated for this post, and all opinions are my own. Post contains affiliate links. After buying several PlanetWise large wet bags for use as a hanging diaper pail, and having the zippers break, I bit the bullet and ordered a GroVia Perfect Pail from Kelly’s Closet.

This aptly named bib is made from the same material as their waterproof cloth diaper wraps, and is made in Canada with USA made materials.
