Green Acre Designs Cloth Diaper Review & Giveaway U.S./Canada (CLOSED 4/19)

green acre designs cloth diaper

Since I started cloth diapering in 2009, I’ve heard Green Acre Designs (GAD) mentioned a lot. GAD makes sized pocket diapers and AIOs with PUL, fleece, or fuzzy “GADimals” outers. They also have one-size semi-fitted pockets, covers and inserts. Definitely worth noting are their husky medium and extra-large sizes. Weights are difficult to estimate since it really depends on the child’s build, but GAD estimates the extra-large will fit 29-55 pounds (Rise: 15-22, Waist: 14-28, Thigh: 11-19, Stride: 6), so check these out if you’re looking for a large or special needs child!

I received a gorgeous embroidered medium pocket diaper and a one-size microfiber terry insert.

The embroidered diaper retails for $23.95 and the inserts are $4.50 each. The insert is sewn in a loop for more thorough washing and faster drying, and the flaps give you the ability to put the absorbency where you need it (4 layers in the insert and 4 in the flaps.) Green Acre Designs also has sized microfiber and French terry inserts, one-size hemp French terry inserts and hemp French terry doublers.

The pocket diaper has elastic on both the front and back of the diaper to contain messes, and side snaps for a trim fit.

The diaper I received has an additional flap of PUL covering the embroidery to prevent any wicking through. This embroidery backing is an option available for an additional $1.00.

The diaper has 1 mil PUL outside and microfleece inside. All GAD diapers come with a one-year warranty on snaps, elastic and PUL!

I received the “green baby” embroidery on kiwi PUL with butter microfleece, but there are tons of color and embroidery options available!

I’m loving all the little details like the finished pocket opening edges.

The diaper I received is a medium. My son is about 22 months and 22 pounds, and it fits him wonderfully with plenty of room to grow. Here is the size chart (ranges of course vary greatly based on your baby’s size & shape!):

I thought the diaper looked just as adorable on.

It fit really well, and the one-size microfiber insert was very absorbent. It did take me a little bit to figure out exactly how to fold it, so he has quite the booty in this picture!!

All In One Diapers Cloth Diapers Giveaway Made in the USA Review Sized Diapers Two Size/Staged Diapers Velcro/Aplix Closure

OsoCozy All-in-One Cloth Diaper Review & Giveaway (CLOSED 4/12)

osocozy all in one cloth diapers

ClothDiaper.com sent me two OsoCozy All-in-One diapers to review. I had been eying them for a while, and I was excited to try them. They are U.S. made, have Velcro closures, are all-in-one style with soft cotton against baby, and though they only come in 3 colors, the colors are cute!

The diapers come in two sizes. Size 1/Small fits approximately 6-18 pounds, and size 2/Large fits about 18-35 pounds. They’re an all-in-one style with a PUL outer, so no cover is needed. I received both the bleached and unbleached version of the diaper in the size 2/Large.

osocozy closures/laundry tabs

Both versions have easy to use aplix closures with the ability to overlap, nice big laundry tabs and rear elastic.

The all-in-one style is very Daddy or babysitter friendly, since they go on just like a disposable!

You can choose between the bleached version, which is 100% cotton gauze, or the unbleached version, which is 100% cotton Birdseye weave. I did not notice any difference in performance or fit, so it’s just a matter of preference. Both diapers retail for just $14.95 each!

Here is the size 2/large measured folded and stretched:

osocozy large foldedosocozy large stretched

My son is somewhere around 22 pounds, and while the size 2 fit him, I think he could definitely fit in the size 1 as well! My husband put the diaper on him the first time with the Velcro completely overlapped, so one wing was attached to the front of the diaper, but the other was attached only to the other wing. Without being attached to the front of the diaper, the other wing eventually drooped! The next time we just made sure both wings were attached to the diaper!

I think the OsoCozy is well made, easy to use and absorbent. The aqua color is gorgeous and gender neutral, and I love the little bear in their logo! They are very affordable at $14.95 each too!

Giveaway: ClothDiaper.com is offering one of my readers three OsoCozy AIO diapers, in their choice of size, color and bleached/unbleached! (ARV $44.85)

Thirsties Sized Diaper Covers Review & Comparison To Duo Wrap

newborn thirsties cover

To go along with my Thirsties Fab Fitted vs Duo Fitted Review & Comparison, I decided I needed to compare the Duo Wraps to the Covers also!  As I mentioned before, I won a cover and fitted in a Dirties on Diapering backer giveaway

siderear

Pictured here in green (celery), I have a Thirsties Cover in Extra-Small.  These are sized covers with XS fitting 6-12 lbs, Small 12-18 lbs, Medium 18-28 lbs and Large 28-40 lbs.

closure & laundry tabswipeable inner and double gussets

They have hook & loop closures, laundry tabs, double leg gussets and a 1 mil wipe-able PUL inner.  They retail for $11.50 each.

Here is the XS measured folded and stretched:

Check out my full Thirsties Duo Wrap Review for all the details on that, but here are just a few photos for comparison.

The duo wraps of course have rise snaps to adjust from 6-18 lbs for size 1, and 18-40 lbs for size 2.  Here is the Extra-Small Cover vs the size 1 Duo Wrap (smallest setting on the left, largest on the right):

Here is a Small cover vs the size 1 duo wrap on the largest setting (size 1 seems to be XS & Small with 1 additional setting between, size 2 seems to be medium & large with 1 additional setting in between.)

Finally, here’s my newborn “model” again, also pictured in newborn and size 1 disposables for comparison:

The duo wraps are a little more expensive at $12.75 for solids and $13.75 for prints vs. $11.50 for the covers.  According to Thirsties, the covers are a bit roomier to fit over fitteds, while the duo wraps are better suited for prefolds or the stay dry inserts.  I really didn’t notice this, but I’m sure it would be more apparent on an actual baby rather than a squishy “bear” bottom (har har.)

Which ever you choose will give you a great, versatile diapering system that’s made in the U.S.A.! See fit on my newborn.

All In One Diapers All In Two Diapers Cloth Diapers Giveaway One Size Diapers Review Sized Diapers Snap Closure

Itti Bitti – Bitti d’Lish AIO & Bitti Tutto O/S Diapers Review & Giveaway (CLOSED 3/8)

Itti Bitti Diapers

Itti Bitti is an Australian company, but their diapers are coming to the U.S. in March 2011.  I was able to try the Bitti d’Lish sized AIO and the Bitti Tutto One Size AI2.

Itti Bitti D'Lish AIO Cloth Diaper

I chose the Bitti d’lish in the size large.  The small fits 8-16 lbs, medium 14-26 lb and large 23-37 lb.  My son is only about 21 lbs at 21 months, but I chose the large since he was pretty close to the size cut off, and because the Itti Bitti diapers tend to fit in a more low-rise style.

Large itti bitti d'lish diaperback of itti bitti d'lish diaper

The bitti d’lish has snap closures, with an overlap to fit smaller babies.

closure snaps with overlap

It has a sewn in soaker as well as snaps to allow you to add a mini soaker.  The mini soaker is not included with the diaper, but you will see it in the Bitti Tutto review.

sewn in soakercan add a doubler

In addition to the absorbency sewn within the diaper, there is a sewn in flap soaker (this is where you add the booster)

Since they are designed to fit with a lower rise, they are a bit smaller than other large diapers I’ve used.  here it is measured folded and stretched:

large itti bitti diaper measured foldedlarge itti bitti measured stretched

It fits well on my son, but I am glad I went with the large and not the medium, since I prefer a higher rise diaper.

The minky outer is super soft, and the microfleece inner keeps baby dry.

itti bitti leg openinglarge itti bitti d'lish diaper on 21 lb baby

Even without using an added booster, the diaper was very absorbent, and we had no leaking issues.  Itti Bitti suggests that you can expect 3 or more hours of use, though you will need the booster for heavy wetters.

The MSRP of the Bitti d’lish is $18.95

itti bitti bitti tutto one size diaper

The Bitti Tutto is a one-size diaper, and is quite a bit more expensive at $26.95.

itti bitti one size diaper

It has a snap closure with overlap, and 4 rise settings.  Itti Bitti refers to them as newborn/small, medium, large and extra-large.  Since they are lower rise, they seem to fit more like newborn, small, medium and large.

4 rise settings snap closure with overlap

The Bitti Tutto has hip snaps to prevent wing droop on small babies, plus built in covers for when you’re not using them.

The Tutto has an inner gusset that goes around the back and legs, to prevent blowouts.

The diaper comes with three soakers, and has color coded snaps.

The diaper came with instructions on how to snap the soakers:

soaker instructions

However, I found all the soakers to be rather overwhelming, and it took me a bit to figure it all out.  I made a 6 minute video which demonstrates the ways to use the soakers.

Here is the newborn/small setting measured folded and stretched:

On the newborn setting, adjust the length of the long soaker using the blue snaps, then snap to the yellow snaps in the rear of the diaper and tuck it under the gussets.

You may also use the shorter soaker snapped to the purple snaps in the front of the diaper, attaching the doubler underneath with the red snaps.

Medium setting:

For the medium-extra large settings, you can use the long soaker (snapped to yellow in the back) adjusted to the proper length (using the blue snaps.)  When you attach the doubler (using the red snaps) there is an additional blue snap to replace the one the doubler covers.

You can also use both the long soaker in back and the short soaker in front.

You can reverse the soakers to get more absorbency up front for boys.  The soakers are much easier than they seem, and I definitely recommend watching the video above!

I put my 21ish pound, 21 month old son in the large setting with all 3 doublers (long in front, short in back.)

Though it fits well, he could definitely still wear the medium as well, it would just sit a little lower.

Itti Bitti diapers come in an amazing rainbow of colors, are super soft minky, fit well and absorb like crazy.  There’s definitely a learning curve to the soakers, but it’s so simple once I got over my initial fear of all the soakers!

Giveaway: Itti Bitti is offering one of my readers a bitti d’lish in their choice of size and a Bitti Tutto.  Itti Bitti will choose gender neutral colors for the winner.  (ARV $45.90.)

Cloth Diapers Pocket Diapers Review Sized Diapers Velcro/Aplix Closure WAHM made

Designs by Cace Pocket Diaper Tester Review

designs by cace pocket diaper tester

I reviewed a Designs by Cace all-in-one diaper last year, during my “year of fluff” event.  One thing I had mentioned was that a “heavy wetter” style diaper would be a nice option.  Sara at Designs by Cace decided to test a brand new pocket diaper pattern, to make absorbency customizable for heavier wetters.

Keep in mind that this is a tester diaper, and changes and improvements will be made based on tester feedback!

aplix closures and laundry tabs

The diaper looks very much like the AIO, with aplix closures and laundry tabs.

rear pocket opening

Except of course, it has a pocket opening rather than a sewn in soaker.

medium diaper folded stretched

The medium is estimated to fit 10-22 pounds.  My son is about 21 pounds and he’s definitely getting close to outgrowing the diaper, but he still has some room.

medium diaper on 21 lb baby 9

rear side

It took me a while to get my feedback to Sara.  I generally get a diaper, wash it once, then use and wash it at least 3-4 times before providing feedback.  Well…  The first three times I put the diaper on my son, he pooped in it almost immediately!  I joke about him and pretty new white diapers, since he always seems to do that.  Never three times though!  Maybe the super soft inner relaxed him, I don’t know, ha ha!

In any case, I was finally able to give it some really good use, and it has been washed 7+ times.  Sara included a microfiber towel to use in the pocket; she is planning on making inserts for the diapers, but wanted to focus on the diapers for now.  The last time I used the diaper, the towel was pretty soaked, and I had a little bit of wicking at one of the legs.  I think this could be corrected by using an insert in the pocket, and I’m going to try stuffing it with one of my spare inserts next!  I’m looking forward to seeing photos of round two testers or the final product!

front

DBC sells her AIOs from $9 (smalls) to $15 (large prints) and I’d expect the pockets to be fairly similarly priced.  Designs by Cace diapers are a great value and are work-at-home-mom made!
