Cloth Wipes Diaper Accessories Giveaway Review

GroVia Cloth Wipes Review & Giveaway (CLOSED 8/31)

>

grovia cloth wipes

GroVia cloth wipes come in white only, and a 12-pack sells for $10.95 (MSRP.)  At less than 92 cents per wipe, I figured they were worth a try!  P.S. Stay tuned for another cloth wipe review/giveaway on September 6th, as well as a post on The Village of Moms about using cloth wipes!

The wipes are 100% cotton and measure 8×8, which is perfect for folding and putting in a wipes case or warmer.

They are 2 layers thick, soft and squishy.  They have held up to use wonderfully, but I was definitely disappointed initially, after the first washing.

There are two rows of stitching around the border of the wipes, and the inner row came loose in most of the wipes.  I don’t know if they are purposely designed this way?  I suppose it’s possible.

It’s very hard to see since they’re white on white, but the stitching seems very sloppy and overlapped.  Really though, at less than a buck a wipe, I didn’t really expect any better.  The ugly stitching doesn’t affect the wipes, they are holding up to use, washing and drying great.  I don’t even notice the stitching as I’m wiping my son’s tush (ha ha.)

I also ended up with quite a few pulled threads within the wipes, which was entirely my fault.  The tag was sewn into the wipes (can’t stand that on clothing too!) and I yanked it instead of cutting.  Oops!

cloth wipes
The wipes still measure about 8×8 after washing on hot and drying on high.
They’re nice and fluffy stacked up!
cloth wipes
They stack nicely with my other wipes too!  I’ve been using them for a few weeks now and they’ve worked great and washed up nicely with no stains!
I have another set of 12 wipes, new in their package for one winner!

Smartipants Diaper Giveaway (CLOSED 8/27)

>

smartipants diaper
I’ve had my Smartipants diaper for about 8 months.
diaper
Initially, I didn’t think it was anything to really write home about.
smart sleeve diaper
However, the more I used it, the more it became a favorite. It has been used nearly daily for the 8 months I’ve had it.
I just took these pictures last week, so this is what it looks like after 8 months of wear & tear!
smart sleeve
The Smartipants diaper has a “smart sleeve” that the insert slides into.  Much like a pocket diaper, it has a waterproof outer and soft fabric against baby’s skin.
cloth diaper
Each diaper comes with a smart sleeve microfiber insert.
cloth diaper
Here are the two things that really make Smartipants stand out to me.  First, the insert agitates out in the wash.  It really does!  With my other pocket diapers, I use the wipe to yank the insert out before I throw it in the pail, so I don’t have to touch it later.  The smart sleeve insert comes out by itself, so just throw wet ones in your pail as is!
Second, each diaper and smart sleeve insert costs only $14.95!  They’re also available in 3-packs, 12-packs and 24-packs with discounted prices.  24 diapers cost $279.95 or about $11.66 per diaper!  That’s enough to cloth diaper full time, washing every other day, with a few to spare.
diaper
More important than price (to me) is the fact that they do not leak, and our Smartipants has held up wonderfully!  8 months of mostly daily use and zero problems.
snapss
Smartipants have snap closures, with just two snaps on each wing, which is easier for me to do than three!  They are also one-size by way of a snap down rise.  All photos of my son in this post are on the medium setting where he is about 18 or so pounds.

Smartipants recently introduced new products, including newborn diapers, smart-fit covers, smart tote wet bags and smart pail hanging wet bags!

They also introduced their first limited edition diaper color, chocolate.  A new color will be available for a limited time each month, and the color will be chosen by Smartipants users!

So, I bet you want your own.  Smartipants is giving one of my lovely readers their own Smartipants diaper with smart sleeve insert, in his/her choice of color!
Here’s how to enter:
Mandatory Entry: Visit Smartipants and tell me what product you think they should add to their line!
Bonus Entry: “Like” Smartipants on Facebook.  Let them know I sent you!  Leave me a comment on this blog post, letting me know you’re a “liker” in order to get your entry.
That’s it.  Single comment entry, or double your chances by liking Smartipants on Facebook, and keeping up with all their latest news!  Please make sure you leave your email address in your comment if it is not visible in your profile.
I’ll accept entries until Friday, August 27th, 2010 at 9:00 P.M. Eastern.  I’ll draw a winner using random.org’s true random number generator and notify him/her by email. S/he will have 48 hours to respond before the prize is forfeited and another winner is chosen.
This giveaway is open to residents of the U.S. only.  Review my general giveaway rules for complete details.
Although Smartipants has agreed to provide a free diaper to one reader, I was not compensated in any way for this post, and all opinions are my own.

All In Two Diapers Cloth Diapers Diaper Covers Giveaway Hybrid Diapers Natural Fiber One Size Diapers Prefolds PUL

Econobum Giveaway (CLOSED 8/13)

>

econobum
I received an econobum free with a coupon code last year, and I didn’t really give it a fair shake.  I wasn’t terribly impressed, I was happy with my pocket diapers, and I figured I might as well sell it before I fully prepped it and used it a bunch.
The econobum consists of a really nice, quality prefold and a cover.
Like the flip, it is “one size” via a snap down rise, and has snap closures.  It’s like an economy version of the flip.  Thinner and doesn’t have the flaps to tuck the insert under.
It’s definitely pretty basic.  It comes in white only and its pretty thin.
It’s not called the “luxurobum,” it’s called the econobum, and for good reason.  The cover and prefold are just $9.95.
The prefold that’s included is very nice, and you could really supplement the system with some cheaper prefolds to really stretch the budget.
For myself, I figured as long as I was spending less on cloth than I would be on disposables, I was doing all right.

As I’ve said before, I built my stash gradually, washing twice a day for a while, but something like the econobum would get you in cloth in no time flat!

So, I got sucked in by my favorite 4 letter f-word (free!) and bought something I could have paid less for, just to use a “spend $xx get a free one-size diaper” coupon.  I had read comments of what others had received and I was hopeful that I’d get something new.  Doncha know I ended up with another econobum.

So, I thought I’d give it to one of my readers, and I’m making this quick and easy (insert off color joke here.)

If you win, you will get the brand new, in it’s package, econobum pictured here.

Here’s how to enter:

Comment on this post.  That’s it.  Told you it would be quick and easy.  Say anything you like, but I’d really love some feedback.  Things you’d like me to review or give away, what you think of my usual giveaway entry methods and so forth.  Please do make sure to leave your email address in your comment if it isn’t visible in your profile.

I’ll accept entries until Friday, August 13th, 2010 (oohh Friday the 13th!) at 9 P.M., Eastern.  I’ll draw a winner using random.org’s true random number generator and notify him/her by email.  S/he will have 48 hours to respond before the prize is forfeited and other winner chosen.

This is open to the U.S. only.  Sorry Canadians, I don’t really understand the rules up North, and I don’t look good in orange.  ‘Cause, you know…they put people in orange jumpsuits when they throw ’em in the pokey.  Bah-dum-ching.  I’m here all night folks.

I wanted to note than with further washing & drying, the organic pod is a lot smaller now.  I still prefer the stay-dry pod, but the organic is much more manageable now!  This is an awesome diapering system, and it’s landed itself in my favorites pile!

The winner is Guggie Daly!  I’ve emailed you, and you have 48 hours to claim your prize.  Congratulations!

Cloth Diapers Discount Fitted Diapers Giveaway Made in the USA Natural Fiber Diapers Retailers Review

Play All Day Hemp Fleece Diaper Review and Giveaway from EcoMom – Plus a discount! (CLOSED 8/10) U.S. & Canada

>

I’ve already told you about Eco-Friendly Baby Products – EcoMom, when I reviewed the Plum/Revolution Foods products.  I’m very happy that EcoMom is expanding their cloth diaper offerings!  I was originally supposed to review the gDiapers (several readers have asked about them) but they were such a popular new item, they weren’t able to let me review them just yet.  Hopefully soon!
EcoMom has competitive pricing and offers free shipping on any $75 order every day.  However, they also offer the EcoPass.  The EcoPass is $99 for the year ($8.25/mo) and gets you free shipping plus 15% off of all orders!  At this time, there are no restrictions on that.  It’s good on both oversize and expensive items!
EcoMom has a new feature, the “daily deal.”  As an EcoPass holder, you would be entitled to buy the daily deals (plus new products!) before anyone else, and that free shipping would really make it a deal!
Also, check out their “What Does EcoMom® Mean to Me” – Video Contest and you could win a $200 shopping spree!

The diaper EcoMom sent me is an organic hemp fleece fitted diaper by Play All Day.

The diaper is 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton fleece.  I received a size medium, which fits 16-28 pounds.

The body of the diaper has 3 layers of organic hemp fleece, while the soaker has two.  Edges are all serged.

The diaper is sized pretty generously to fit a wide range, but the snap overlaps help fit smaller babies.

Like other hemp/organic cotton products, it needed to be washed and dried 3 times on hot before use, to remove the natural oils.  It will continue to gain absorbency through 8-9 washes.

After prepping, the diaper became, um, more fleece-y looking.  I am sure there is a word for that, but it escapes me!

The first time I tried the diaper on my son, I didn’t double the soaker, and used it coverless.

Even though my son is on the smaller side, at around 18 pounds, I got a good fit.

We have used the diaper several times already.  The first time, he “christened” it quickly, as he always does with new diapers.  The second time, we got about an hour and a half out of it coverless, before I noticed some dampness on the outside in the wet zone.

With a cover, the absorbency is great.  I think this would make an excellent night time diaper with a good cover or wool soaker, possibly adding a doubler for a very heavy wetter.

Hemp is excellent in a diaper, since it is very absorbent, without being bulky!  The MSRP of the size medium is $17.50.

EcoMom is offering one reader a $15 gift certificate.  Use it on a diaper, or anything you like from their store!  This is open to the U.S. and Canada!

All of my readers may enter discount code SBBL287 at checkout and receive 15% off of your order through 8/31/10!
