I posted my AMP One-Size Duo Diaper review a year ago, and it’s still in my regular rotation. It fits well, and the super-absorbent insert means it’s one I grab for first thing in the morning, when I know the diaper has to make it to drop my daughter off at school and back!

Just like the one-size duo diaper I have (which fits 7-38 lb via a snap down rise), the sized duo diaper is Canadian made, can be used as a pocket or all-in-two, has a super soft fleece inner, is available with a bamboo or hemp insert and a comes in a ridiculously huge array of colors. It’s available in small (6-18 lb) and large (15-35 lb.)

Happy Heinys XS vs. Mini One Size Pocket Newborn Diapers – Comparison

Last month, I posted a Happy Heinys XS/newborn pocket diaper review and a Happy Heinys mini one size diaper review. Now I’m going to compare the two!

The mini one size actually gets a bit smaller than the XS, rise-wise. Above is the XS (brown w/blue hibiscus print) vs the mini one size (pink) on the medium setting.

You can see that the XS isn’t much smaller (rise-wise) than the Happy Heinys One Size, while the mini one size is a bit smaller. However, the XS is definitely narrower through the crotch.

Here’s the smallest setting of the mini one size (pink) folded and stretched, vs the XS pocket (brown w/blue hibiscus.)

Both have the same velcro closures, but the front panel of the XS (on top in the right photo) is a bit smaller/narrower than the mini one size.

The XS doesn’t have encased leg elastic, which is supposed to be more gentle.

They both have the same inner as well. I think the XS is a good bit narrower through the middle than the mini one size, so I’d expect it to be less bulky on tiny babies. Unfortunately, I didn’t buy the insert for either one, so I don’t know how they compare!

Once on my “model” you can’t tell too much of a difference. Again, I think the rise on the mini one size (pink) is a bit lower than the XS, but the XS is a little narrower.

The mini one size diaper retails for $17.95 (with two inserts), and will take you from the newborn stage, until the one-size diapers fit (the largest size of the mini is very similar to the smallest size of the o/s…see the mini one size review for photos.) Happy Heinys’ Weight range on these is 4-15 pounds.

The XS pocket diaper retails for $18.95 (with one insert), and thus far, I haven’t been able to find an estimated weight range for them. They do have the benefit of being a little bit narrower, and the un-encased leg elastic is supposed to be gentler (I prefer encased.)

For $1 less, the mini-one size gets you an additional insert, and more sizing flexibility, so it seems like a “no-brainer” to me.

Happy Heinys XS Newborn Pocket Diaper Review (Plus Discount)

The Happy Heinys XS pocket diaper is sized to fit tiny newborns. I haven’t been able to find a size range for the XS, but the small is 8-16 lbs, so I imagine this XS would be perhaps 5-12 lbs. I do have another post coming up comparing the XS pocket to the mini-one size!

The diaper comes with Velcro closures, and extra-gentle leg elastic (not encased.)

The diapers retail for $18.95 with a microfiber insert, but you can get them for $2.00 less without an insert. Since I have plenty of small inserts, I elected to save the $2.00!

The small insert from my one-size Happy Heinys diaper was too wide, but a narrower insert fit just fine.

Tots Bots Tini Fit Newborn Diaper Review

I’ve been wanting to try the Tots Bots Easy Fit diaper for a while, and now that I have a reason to, I went ahead and grabbed the newborn version of the Easy Fit, the Tots Bots Tini Fit!

The Easy Fit and Tini Fit are made by Tots Bots in Scotland, and distributed by Bummis. (I checked out their Facebook page and really enjoyed all the “nappy” and “rubbish” and “holiday” talk, tee hee!)

The Easy Fit diaper is designed to fit babies from 8-35 pounds, and the Tini Fit is for little ones from 5-14 pounds.

The diaper has Velcro closures with good sized laundry tabs. The inner of the diaper is rayon from bamboo, with the outer edge side guards made of brushed polyester.

I wasn’t sure exactly what it was going to look like, since it’s so hard to tell from photos. In the first photo, I’ve pictured the diaper turned inside out, so you can see that it has a sewn in soaker like a “traditional” all-in one. However, instead of the entire soaker being sewn together, the rest sticks out like a tongue style soaker, that you tuck into the pocket.

You can also add an additional booster (included) to up the absorbency from 13.4 oz to 16.9 oz!

With the Tini Fit, you’re getting the ease of an AIO (stuffing the flap in is an additional step, but it’s very quick and easy) but the soaker will be easier to clean and dry than if it were all sewn in. You can also fold the soaker to place absorbency where you need it, and of course the pocket allows you to add a booster!

My son was about 18.5 pounds at 16 months when we bought our medium FB perfect size. He is still rather petite at 23.5ish lbs at 25 months. The medium FB is definitely much larger than other medium diapers we were using, but it fit him well then and fits him well now with tons of room to grow. I doubt we will ever need to go to larges in the FuzziBunz! I don’t have a small though (ahem, I need to get one, don’t I?) so I don’t know how they fit vs. the XS. If you have bigger newborns, you may very well be able to use the smalls and mediums and that’s it!

It has easy snap closures, leg and rear elastic, and a rear pocket opening.

Just like the medium, the XS came with a microfiber insert that was perfectly sized to fit in the diaper.

Now here is my “newborn model” wearing it. I’ve also pictured him wearing a newborn disposable so you can see how the fit compares.

Our medium FuzziBunz Perfect Size is a “go-to” diaper for us when we’re going to be out and about. It fits well, despite it’s more generous size, and absorbs well. ~~I expect the same performance from the XS, and we’ll find out in December when I get to test the fit & absorbency on a newborn.
